I was blessed to be raised in a solid Christian home where my parents and siblings made sure I heard the Gospel regularly. Apparently my older brother was quite the evangelist as a 5 year old and would try to get me to pray with him for salvation even though I would run away as soon as he started to pray! Thankfully neither my family nor God gave up on me and at a young age I asked Jesus to come into my heart and save me from my sins.
Over the years I really struggled with believing that I had really done enough to be sure that my eternity was secure. It was really important to me to have that date where I could say I prayed "the prayer" and felt completely different. Because of this, I prayed for salvation over and over. Thankfully I eventually realized that I wasn't trusting the work Christ did to save me but was placing my trust in my prayer or if I was doing what I thought Christians should do. I understood that right then and there I needed to trust that Christ's work on the cross and grace was what saved me. I finally understood my salvation was by grace alone and through faith alone.
Later I attended a great Bible college where the Gospel and serving God was greatly emphasized. I came away from my years there with a better understanding of how the Gospel applies to my every-day life and am continually learning what being a follower of Christ looks like.
I started attending Harvest Bible Chapel Calgary in April, 2013 and have loved the church family I have found there. I'm so thankful God led me to Harvest and that I get to be a part of the work He is doing in Calgary and around the world through our church.
